Synopsis

About the Author

Jane Bowles (1917–1973) was an American novelist, playwright, and short story writer. Although she published only one novel, one play, and a small body of short fiction, her work established her as one of the most original literary voices of the twentieth century. Her singular style, marked by sharp dialogue, psychological complexity, and dark humour, has influenced generations of writers. She spent much of her adult life in Morocco with her husband, writer Paul Bowles.
