Pizza Before We Die: An Eyewitness Account in Gaza
Synopsis
When war engulfs Gaza, Hassan is transformed from an ordinary citizen into an essential witness. As his home, neighbourhood, and community are devastated, he begins documenting daily life through a series of deeply personal posts, recording moments of fear, hunger, resilience, and loss. Written from within the conflict itself, his account offers an intimate portrait of survival amid extraordinary violence, capturing not only the destruction of a homeland but also the determination to preserve dignity, memory, and hope.
Raw, compassionate, and profoundly moving, Pizza Before We Die is a powerful work of firsthand testimony that brings readers closer to the human realities of life in Gaza. Framed by award-winning writer Yasuko Thanh, Hassan's story stands as an urgent act of witness, reminding us of the individuals and families whose lives continue to unfold behind the headlines.
