Synopsis

About the Author

Edward W. Said (1935–2003) was a Palestinian-American literary critic, scholar, musician, and public intellectual. Born in Jerusalem and raised in Jerusalem and Cairo before pursuing his education in the United States, he spent most of his academic career as Professor of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University. The author of more than twenty books, including The Question of Palestine, Culture and Imperialism, and Out of Place, Said is widely regarded as one of the most influential intellectuals of the twentieth century.
