About the Author

Omar El Akkad is an Egyptian-Canadian author and journalist. Born in Egypt, raised in Qatar, and later immigrating to Canada, he spent more than a decade reporting on the War on Terror, the Arab Spring, climate change, and social justice movements. He is the acclaimed author of American War and What Strange Paradise, and his work has earned numerous literary awards for its moral clarity, lyrical prose, and profound engagement with questions of displacement, identity, and justice.
