Synopsis

In a near-future Ecuador, best friends Noa and Nicole leave Guayaquil for the Solar Noise Festival, a week-long gathering at the foot of an active volcano where music, ritual, technology, and altered states merge into a feverish celebration. While Noa throws herself into the festival's intoxicating atmosphere to outrun the past, Nicole grows increasingly uneasy, sensing that beneath the festival's promises of liberation lies something far more dangerous. As hallucination, myth, and reality begin to blur, each must confront the violence, grief, and buried memories that have shaped her life.

Blending psychological horror, speculative fiction, and visionary prose, Electric Shamans at the Festival of the Sun is a hypnotic novel about girlhood, trauma, friendship, and the search for transformation. Fierce, unsettling, and wildly imaginative, Mónica Ojeda once again confirms herself as one of the most daring voices in contemporary Latin American literature.
