Synopsis

It is the summer of 1928 in Green Town, Illinois, and twelve-year-old Douglas Spaulding is awakening to the wonders and mysteries of the world around him. Through long afternoons, new tennis shoes, the annual making of dandelion wine, carnival visits, and endless adventures with family and friends, Douglas begins to understand the joy, beauty, and heartbreak that accompany growing up. Each ordinary moment becomes extraordinary as he discovers that childhood is filled with both magic and the first awareness of mortality.

Lyrical, nostalgic, and deeply moving, Dandelion Wine is Ray Bradbury's most personal novel and one of the great celebrations of youth in American literature. Blending memory, fantasy, and quiet philosophy, Bradbury creates a timeless portrait of summer, imagination, and the fleeting wonder of being alive.
