About the Author

Ram Dass (1931–2019), born Richard Alpert, was an American spiritual teacher, psychologist, and author. After teaching psychology at Harvard University alongside Timothy Leary, he travelled to India, where he became a disciple of Neem Karoli Baba and was given the name Ram Dass, meaning "servant of God." Through his books, lectures, and humanitarian work, he became one of the most influential voices in mindfulness, meditation, and spiritual practice in the West.
