Synopsis

In a remote village in the Swiss Alps after the Second World War, Nicholas works at a psychiatric hospital caring for patients whose lives have been irrevocably shaped by violence and loss. Haunted by his own fears and the lingering presence of war, he struggles to build a future with his wife, Anna, who seeks answers of a different kind among physicists exploring the mysteries of matter, time, and the universe.

Moving between psychiatry and particle physics, memory and grief, The Size of the World is a luminous meditation on trauma, love, and the search for meaning after catastrophe. Elegant, philosophical, and quietly profound, Xexénesky's novel explores how human lives are bound together by histories both personal and cosmic.
