Almost True
Synopsis
Ulisses is a talking dog with plenty to say about the world. His story introduces a cast of wonderfully strange characters, including his owner Clarice, a rooster named Evidio, a hen named Edissea, and a greedy fig tree who enlists a wicked witch to make the hens lay eggs all night. When the hens rebel, the plan quickly falls apart.
Written by Clarice Lispector as a playful, unconventional animal tale, Almost True turns everyday mysteries into opportunities for imagination. Why do birds have no teeth? Why don't black clouds always rain? Told in Ulisses's delightfully unpredictable voice and illustrated by Carla Irusta, the story is funny, strange, and full of the offbeat imagination that made Lispector such a distinctive writer.
