About the Author

Victor Domontovych was the literary pseudonym of Viktor Petrov (1894–1969), a Ukrainian novelist, philosopher, archaeologist, and intellectual. His fiction combines psychological insight, irony, and philosophical inquiry, earning him recognition as one of the most original voices of Ukrainian modernism. This edition is translated into English by Zenia Tompkins.
