Synopsis

A young woman leaves the city for an isolated farmhouse, determined to build a life stripped back to its essentials. Restless and unsentimental, she moves through a series of jobs, relationships, and encounters while tending sheep, raising orphaned lambs, and searching for a way to become a mother. As the demands of survival collide with the realities of desire, work, and solitude, the novel gathers extraordinary emotional force.

About the Author

Eva Baltasar is a Catalan poet and novelist whose work has been translated into more than twenty languages. Her novel Boulder was shortlisted for the 2023 International Booker Prize, establishing her as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary European literature. Mammoth is translated from the Catalan by Julia Sanches.
