Synopsis

After a year of voluntary isolation following a mysterious health scare, Sebastian Castillo emerges from self-imposed exile to attend a New Year's Eve reunion with former classmates at the home of an old philosophy professor. Drawn there by the possibility of seeing Maria, a classmate he has never quite forgotten, Sebastian finds himself confronting old ambitions, unrealized futures, and the uneasy distance between the people they once imagined becoming and the lives they now inhabit.

Set over the course of a single snowy night, Fresh, Green Life is a darkly funny and quietly melancholic novel about youth, literature, love, and disappointment. Blurring the boundaries between autobiography and fiction, Sebastián Castillo's debut is an incisive meditation on memory, intellectual life, and the strange comedy of growing older.
