Synopsis

In this remarkable collection, Clemens Meyer turns his attention to the overlooked lives unfolding on the margins of contemporary Germany. A train driver haunted by a fatal accident, a lonely cleaner who finds companionship in a station bar, and a man wandering his city after a break-in are among the characters who inhabit these stories. Moving through railway stations, apartment blocks, workplaces, and city streets, Meyer reveals moments of fracture, resilience, and unexpected human connection.

Spare, compassionate, and quietly powerful, Dark Satellites transforms ordinary places into landscapes of emotional depth. These stories capture the uncertainty of modern life while finding flashes of tenderness and hope amid isolation and loss.
